Well Mother

Would you like to;

  • incorporate more hands on work in your practice for addressing many of the issues of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period?
  • support women in your care to be more connected with themselves and their babies?
  • have some effective, simple practical tools to teach partners to use in the lead up and during birth?
  • learn some skills which support your own health, well being and relaxation.

Learning shiatsu can be the answer to all these questions.

Shiatsu is a form of massage, which can be done through the clothes and incorporates simple points and holds.  In essence it is simple to learn and effective. It can deepen your understanding of core touch-based midwifery skills. Shiatsu includes awareness of body posture and exercise.

Suzanne Yates has been running a 6 day course since 1999 teaching aspects of shiatsu which are relevant to midwives. You will learn skills for which can support your personally as well as in your work. The course book is “Shiatsu for Midwives” (Elsevier).

There is a new course starting in London in November or  Suzanne can come to your hospital to do the full 6 day course or an introductory presentation.
