As you may have noticed, our website has recently had a major overhaul. Not only does it have a great new look, but our content will be much easier to find too. But just in case you do run into any difficulties, we’ve produced this page to help you navigate your way around. It will also explain the key changes you may notice if you’re an existing Reference Database subscriber.
New to MIDIRS?
If you would like to receive MIDIRS topical updates, add comments to our articles on the site and receive Essence (our free monthly email newsletter), then you will need to sign up to our website.
Simply hover your mouse over the ‘Site Sign-in’ tab in the menu bar and click the ‘Register with us’ option. Complete the simple sign-up form and confirm your email address, and you’ll be a fully signed-up member of MIDIRS.org!
MIDIRS does not share your information with any third parties, and you can opt out of receiving our updates at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of our emails. Also, if you use Twitter and/or Facebook, make sure to Like and Follow MIDIRS so you don’t miss out on news, information and competitions.
Feel free to add your own Avatar (image or photo of yourself) to personalise your comments! To do this, after you have signed-in to the website, hover over the ‘My Account’ option at the top of the page, then over the ‘Profile’ option and finally click ‘Change Avatar’. You will be able to upload an image of your choice. Please remember that the image will be public and must be suitable for all audiences.
Reference Database (RD) subscribers
If you have previously used the old MIDIRS website to access your Reference Database subscription, there are just a couple of changes that you need to be aware of to continue your uninterrupted access online!
1. Your Reference Database (RD) login details have not changed from the previous website. They remain your email address and password that you registered with when you initially subscribed.
*If you would like to take advantage of the new website features you will need to create a separate NEW sign-in account for that. Please follow the instructions above for registering.
2. To login to the Reference Database, you need to click on the new ‘RD Login’ menu item at the top of the page, this will take you to the Reference Database login page where you can enter your login details as usual.
3. Enter your registered email address and password into the two boxes provided and then click the ‘Login’ button, you will then be taken to the Reference Database.
If you have entered the wrong email address or your password is incorrect, the system will ask you to enter it again. Remember that you can click the ‘Forgotten Password’ text to retrieve your password by email.
If you have forgotten your registered email address or would like to update it, please contact MIDIRS customer service who will be able to assist you.
For advice and tips on how to use the website as it develops over the coming months, come right back here for help with any new features as they are released.

Isn’t there a midwifery diary any longer?
Adam
Hi Eva, the online diary is a possibility in phase two of the website’s development, so watch this space! And you can of course get information on upcoming midwifery events in both Essentially MIDIRS and the Digest…
