Women and Public Health: turning rhetoric into action?

This two day conference will explore midwifery practice and public health in relation to a range of current issues in maternity care. It is anticipated that this focus will enable the identification of factors which either impinge on, or support the delivery of Midwifery care to childbearing women with specific needs.
Format
Professor Mary Nolan will chair the conference to present keynote speakers and workshops. Both days will explore the evidence which relates to the promotion of public health care in relation to:
Access to maternity services
Place of birth as a public health issue
Continuation of breastfeeding
Social inequality and childbirth
Domestic Violence
Participants’ will also be able to choose from a number of concurrent workshops that fit within the identified conference themes. These workshops aim to showcase the work being undertaken by midwives and antenatal educators throughout the UK.
