Australian thalidomide survivors win new payout
News item reporting that surviving thalidomide victims in Australia and New Zealand have won a new payment from the British manufacturer of the drug. Although thalidomide survivors in Australia received what was supposed to be a final payment in 1974, the sum proved to be insufficient to last the course of their lives, and further compensation was sought after the success of British thalidomide survivors in reaching a new settlement.
