Midwifery practice should be influenced by the best information available. However, when this takes the form of research articles, it can be difficult to know if the work is sound, and fit for purpose. This Webinar provides a simple guide to critiquing research articles. The method has been used successfully with hundreds of students at all levels. It is also based on the webinar presenter's book: 'Introduction to Research for Midwives'. If you find it difficult to know what to look for in research articles, this informative Webinar will take the mystery and fear out of critiquing.


Biography: Colin Rees

Colin Rees is a lecturer at Cardiff University, Cardiff School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies. He has taught research methods mainly to qualified staff on a variety of courses for many years. He sees his main role as enabling health professionals to become confident users of research, and to help them see research as part of professional and clinical practice within the context of evidence-based practice.

Colin has taught many professional health groups including, O.T.s, Physios, Dieticians, Podiatrists, and Doctors as well as those in nursing and midwifery.

He has been module leader of a research methods course at MSc level in Wales, the Caribbean and more recently, Germany. He is author of An Introduction to Research for Midwives, now in its second edition. He also publishes frequently in the health press.
