Planning a research study

Presented by: Dr Sally Marchant, Editor of the MIDIRS Midwifery Digest.
As a follow up to Sally’s previous webinar on 28th June 2007 ‘Writing for Publication’, this webinar will explore some of the key principles of planning a research project. It will be of interest to students undertaking basic and higher degree studies. The session will include information about some of the issues around developing the research question, undertaking a literature review, the use of the appropriate research methodology, identifying and recruiting the participants, potential ethical issues and the approach to sampling and analysis.


Biography: Dr Sally Marchant
Sally’s background is in clinical midwifery, research and education, all of which are highly useful within her current role. Sally has been MIDIRS Editor since December 2002, and her excellent editorial skills are further complemented by her comprehensive knowledge and expertise as a midwifery researcher. Sally’s ability to swiftly and skilfully critique a research paper, identify the salient points and apply these to contemporary midwifery practice is a huge contribution to the review and development of MIDIRS Informed Choice content.
