Waiting times for sexual health screening slashed - 05/01/2008
Patients who need to attend Yeovil District Hospital’s sexual health screening service are benefiting from greatly improved waiting times.

In January 2007 just 15% of patients were being offered an appointment within 48 hours. Assistant Matron, Rebecca Whittaker said: “The hospital accepted that this was not good enough and responded by undertaking a full redesign of the entire service.

“Measures included the introduction of a computerised appointments system; the addition of an extra nurse-led clinic; a review of staffing; the introduction of walk-in clinics and a nurse-led triage system to ensure that patients are always referred to the most appropriate clinic.”

Just a year after this work began Yeovil District Hospital is now offering all patients an appointment within 48 hours. To book an appointment ring 01935 384382. Alternatively patients can go along to the walk-in clinic which is held between 9am and 11am on Fridays.
