AIM OF THE DAY:

To enable midwives who have been asked to look after women who want to use water during labour and/or who would like to give birth in water to be able to carry out their role as a midwife safely and with increased awareness and knowledge.
OBJECTIVES:

(1) To be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the use of water during labour and birth.
(2) To know how to prepare women and their families.
(3) To obtain proficiency in carrying out the role of a midwife in the labour and delivery of a woman using water.

EVALUATION:

Participants will be given a questionnaire for completion at the end of the day which will enable them to feed back whether they have obtained the above aims and objectives.

Latest water birth research.
Videos of births in water will be shown.
A selection of books and videos will be available for purchase.
