This year’s International Day of the Midwife (IDM) is Friday 5 May 2017, providing a day to celebrate the achievements of midwives and the outstanding work that they do for families.
Since 1992, midwives and allied health professionals have recognised International Day of the Midwife through various activities, such as cake sales, conferences and, more recently, using #IDM2017 across social media.
‘Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for life!’
IDM 2017’s theme is ‘Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for life’, to emphasise the working relationship midwives have with families to promote safe and fulfilling births.
IDM is encouraging midwives to share celebrations and views alongside the phrase “I Believe in Partnership” across social media and other media platforms.
Midwives are also encouraged to use the hashtag #IDM2017.
