[MS71] Disrespect and abuse in childbirth £9.95*
This month’s latest literature search focuses on the issue of disrespect and abuse on the part of health professionals against women in labour, usually in a facility setting.
This is a global concern which has a disproportionate impact on marginalised women, and can include physical and verbal abuse, and the withholding of treatment. In some cases it can deter women from seeking maternity care.
It has been termed obstetric violence in some countries. Included in the search pack is a comprehensive list of related bibliographic article references and abstracts.
