NHS North West London has launched a mum and baby app that provides a personalised guide for pregnancy, birth and beyond.
The Mum & Baby app provides women with information about their local maternity units, essential information on being pregnant, giving birth and looking after their baby.
The app will also have a feature where women can access personalised plans for their care during their pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Commenting on the app, Head of Maternity, Children and Young People for NHS England, Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, said: “This new app shows what is possible when we embrace modern technology.
“It now also means that we are able to offer personal care to women and their families in North West London by ensuring they can access information quickly and easily which will help give women and clinicians their valuable time back.”
Pregnant women will also be able to find out what to consider when choosing their maternity unit through the app, as well as setting personal reminders for appointments.
The app’s content has been written by NHS health care professionals and local women.
Consultant Obstetrician from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Doctor Sunita Sharma, added: “The North West London Mum & Baby app represents an innovative way in which these local maternity services have come together to provide women and their families with consistent NHS information on how to look after themselves and their babies in an easily accessible format. I think this is a great step forward for our maternity services.”
The Mum & Baby app is available to download in the Android and Apple stores.
