The 8th Annual Virtual International Day of the Midwife will be held online for 24 hours, featuring professional guest speakers from all over the world.
2016’s keynote speakers:
- Professor Maralyn Foureur, Australia, from the University of Technology, Sydney, opening the conference with ‘Designing Out Fear’
- Professor Eugene Declercq, USA, Boston University, ‘Birth by Numbers: Evidence behind the US Caesarean Epidemic’
- Professor Ellen Blix, Norway, University of Applied Sciences Oslo, ‘Midwifery and Maternity Care in Norway’
- Professor Caroline Homer, Australia, University of Technology, Sydney, will be closing the conference with ‘Reducing Preventable Stillbirths: The Opportunity for Midwives.’
Following the success of last year, student midwives can join in three workshop cafés: water birth, Neonatal Resuscitation and VBAC.
Throughout the day there will be speakers from Indonesia, Iran, Romania, Belgium and Palestine.
The Virtual International Day of the Midwife conference will begin at on Wednesday 4th May 2016 at 11pm BMT.
