According to organisers Maternity Action and Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities Kate Green MP, one in nine pregnant women in the workplace will lose their job due to poor and unlawful treatment.
Three quarters of mothers will experience some form of discrimination or a negative experience in the workplace, and almost half of pregnant women will find it difficult to negotiate a safe working environment.
Midwives and parents are being invited to join in a panel discussion at Portcullis House, Westminster, to discuss the growing issue of pregnancy discrimination in the workplace.
The panel will draw on the latest Government research and share personal encounters from women who have experienced discrimination.
There will also be a debate on how to tackle the issue to ensure safe working environments for pregnant women and mothers.
The event will be held from 3pm-5pm on Monday 23 May 2016. Register for tickets via Eventbrite here.
Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace event is FREE.
