The Information Services team at MIDIRS has developed a new pre-prepared literature search on whooping cough, or ‘pertussis’, to give it its medical name.
Whooping cough has been in the news in recent months, with 13 babies dying from the disease in 2012 and health professionals advising pregnant women to seek a vaccination in order to protect their unborn babies.
Updated frequently, this Search Pack covers all aspects of whooping cough from 2003 onwards, including epidemiology, diagnosis and vaccination during pregnancy and in infancy where pertussis is the main focus of the article. Items about general vaccination, where pertussis is mentioned but not the main subject, are not included as this is covered by the Infant vaccination (PN131) and Vaccination during pregnancy (P159) Search Packs.
