The University of Nottingham Midwifery Society is launching a digital event to celebrate International Day of the Midwife 2020 (IDM 2020).
This year midwives and students worldwide are getting creative to mark IDM 2020 in a bid to highlight the day during the coronavirus lockdown.
The University of Nottingham Midwifery Society is joining in by hosting an event via video calling platform Microsoft Teams and social media.
Throughout the day the IDM theme of ‘Midwives with women: celebrate, demonstrate, mobilise, unite – our time is NOW’.
Schedule for the event is as follows:
10:00 – 10:15 – Welcome by guest speaker Professor Jayne Marshall, RCM Nottingham
11:00 – 11:30 – ‘Be present’ with IDM inspire Calming Colouring designed by Jake Brooks and Julie Harris – presented by Welfare Officer Steph
12:00 – 12:15 – Inform – Insight into Leadership by student midwife Caroline Newson
13:00 – 13:30 – Facebook Live from the Nursing and Midwifery Association
14:00 – 14:30 – Celebrate – Staff and Student Awards presented by Professor Helen Spiby
15:00 – 15:30 – ‘Be present’ with Mindful Meditation from Caroline Inspired Yoga – hosted by Welfare Officer Chloe
16:00 – 16:15 – Motivate – reminding ourselves of the unique journey of student midwives
17:00 – 17:15 – A special message from the Division of Midwifery and the MidSoc committee
18:00 – 18:15 – Closing remarks from Midwifery Society President Bea
At 8pm, attendees are being encouraged to light a candle in remembrance of the midwives who have sadly lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.
Attendees should wear red in line with the Royal College of Midwives International Year of the Midwife colour.
