Maternity services in England are being invited to bid for funding from a Challenge Fund to establish innovative ways to improve services through patient feedback.
Chief executives across all trusts have received e-mails encouraging them to bid to be part of two to four projects that will get funding for their initiative from the £195,000 available budget.
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State of Health, Ben Gummer, requested NHS England to create the #MatExp Challenge Fund.
The fund aims to find innovative ways to use patient feedback to improve maternity services, without collecting data.
Trusts can use the fund to use information they have already received from patients to generate changes and improvements.
The Challenge Fund has been introduced following feedback from the National Maternity Review that was published last week.
It also coincides with NHS England’s ambition to use patient data and feedback better to deliver improved services.
The London Maternity Strategic Clinical Network has already implemented a range of resources to engage with families and health care professionals through social media using the hashtag #MatExp.
The closing date for applications is Friday 11 March 2016, with successful applicants being contacted on Thursday 17 March.
Questions and feedback about the #MatExp Challenge Fund can be sent to: England.email@example.com.
